Dear Friends,
I hope this note finds you and your loved ones all doing well and bearing up under these unprecedented times.
While the virus continues to affect every aspect of our lives, your Friends for Friends Executive Board is equally determined not to let it stop us from our mission of helping our neighbors in need.
Even though our big fundraiser – the FfF annual golf outing – was a casualty of COVID-19, the generous spirit of several members, and the success of the July 4th Daily Number Raffle (congratulations Jamie Lee Seifried!), has helped to reduce the financial shortfall.
To that end, your Executive Team recently met virtually and approved four nominations – two families coping with the strain of fighting their respective cancer battles; a young girl who underwent a delicate brain operation; and a man with Parkinson’s recovering from a serious fall – and each received a check in the amount of $3,000.
Currently we are brainstorming creative ways to continue to help those dealing with hardship, while making the necessary concessions to the restrictions on gathering in large groups. So be on the lookout for more information on a virtual Trivia Night as details are finalized.
And whether the virus is with us or not, we will again hold our November Daily Number Raffle with the drawing taking place on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
And please be sure to check out this Sunday’s Philadelphia Inquirer to read a nice article on the positive impact your financial support of Friends for Friends is having on people in crisis living in our area.
In closing, please stay vigilant to remain safe and healthy as we head deeper into the summer. It will be the steady and selfless efforts of every community that will be linked and deliver the winning strategy for our country to be able to gain the upper hand on this stubborn virus.
As always, thank you for being a member and making a difference.
Sincerely,
Bob Carroll, President president@FfFcharity.com
